2016 Octagon Art Festival Sept. 25

We hope you were able to join us for the 45nd Annual Octagon Art Festival. Visual arts, children’s art areas and performing arts form the foundation of the Octagon Art Festival. More than 14,000 people attend this festival. We joined more than 100 artists from all over the Midwest who sell and display high-quality original artwork in a wide variety of media. We were thrilled to receive the "Outstanding Artistry" blue ribbon. The festival is held outdoors on pavement, rain or shine, in the Main Street Cultural District in downtown Ames. Read About the Iowa Rocker in Hoopla

You can find us in the April 22nd edition of Hoopla in their "Made in Iowa" section. Here is what they had to say, " Rance Hilton isn't your average craftsman. He's best known for his Iowa Rockers-hand crafted suspension rockers made from native Iowa woods that he actually steams and bends himself into patterns he has designed. Take a seat in one of his treasured creations and we think you'll agree he is one artisan that rocks." To see the full interview click Made in Iowa: Iowa Rocker.

Celebrating "Made in Iowa" Products

We had the opportunity to host 80 folks in March as they went on a "Made in Iowa" adventure. Hills Bank and Star Destination tours had the chance to test out our customized rockers made from native woods in Iowa which include: oak, walnut, cherry, hickory, ash and sycamore in the showroom, see a demonstration on how our wood is steamed and bent and talk with the original owner, Doc Fettkether who showed our "tools of the trade" which included a 1910 band saw, 1920's mortise machine and overhead router. It was an afternoon enjoyed by all!
